Most Asked Questions
Which clinic should I book?
We offer the same routine podiatry service at all three clinics. Simply choose whichever of Amersham, Beaconsfield or Gerrards Cross is most convenient for you.
How often should I have routine podiatry treatment?
Most patients book a routine appointment every 6 to 8 weeks, though this varies depending on how quickly your nails and skin grow. Also whether you have any underlying conditions such as diabetes. Your podiatrist will recommend a schedule that suits you at your first visit.
I have diabetes, is routine podiatry safe for me?
Yes, and it’s often especially important. Diabetes can affect circulation and sensation in the feet, making regular professional foot checks a key part of managing your condition safely. Our podiatrists are experienced in diabetic foot care and will check for any changes that need attention.
Does it hurt?
No; routine treatments like nail trimming and callus removal are designed to be comfortable. If you have particularly painful corns, ingrown toenails or infections, let your podiatrist know beforehand so they can take extra care.
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to see our podiatrist. You can book an appointment directly with Bucks Podiatry.
Whether you have foot or ankle pain, a troublesome toenail, corns or calluses, a verruca, or would simply like your feet checked, our podiatrist can assess your concerns and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
If we feel that you would benefit from further investigation or input from another healthcare professional, we can advise you on the next steps.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment online, or contact our reception team by phone if you would prefer some help choosing the right appointment.
If you are unsure which podiatry service you need, just get in touch and our team will be happy to guide you.
Do you offer same-day or urgent appointments?
We will always do our best to offer a same-day or urgent podiatry appointment where availability allows.
If you have a painful ingrowing toenail, sudden foot pain, swelling, or another problem that is causing concern, please contact our reception team and we will try to arrange the earliest suitable appointment for you.
What should I expect from my first appointment?
Your first appointment will begin with a discussion about your symptoms, medical history and any concerns you have about your feet or ankles.
Your podiatrist will then carry out an assessment and explain what they find. Where appropriate, treatment may be provided during the same appointment.
You will also be given clear advice on the best next steps, including any follow-up treatment, exercises, footwear advice or further investigations if needed.
Do you accept insurance?
Some podiatry appointments may be covered by private health insurance, depending on your insurer and individual policy.
We recommend checking with your insurance provider before booking to confirm whether podiatry treatment is included and whether you need an authorisation code or referral.
If you are unsure, our reception team can help explain what information you may need before your appointment.
