Swift Verrucae Treatment

Swift is an advanced treatment for stubborn verrucae and warts, using precise microwave energy to stimulate the body’s own immune response.

It is a quick, non-invasive treatment with no needles, no dressings and very little aftercare, making it a useful option for verrucae that have not responded to more traditional treatments.

At Bucks Podiatry, we offer Swift treatment for both adults and children following a full podiatry assessment.

Verrucae are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can sometimes persist for months or even years, particularly when the immune system does not recognise and clear the virus effectively.

Swift is designed to address this by delivering a carefully controlled dose of microwave energy directly into the affected tissue. This creates a local response within the skin that helps stimulate the immune system to recognise and target the virus.

Benefits of Swift treatment include:

  • Quick treatment sessions
  • No needles or injections
  • No dressings required afterwards
  • No need to keep the area dry
  • Minimal disruption to normal activities
  • Suitable for many persistent or recurrent verrucae
  • Can also be used for some warts on the hands and fingers

During treatment, a small applicator is placed directly over the verruca and delivers a short burst of microwave energy into the affected tissue.

The energy causes a controlled rise in temperature within the targeted area. Rather than simply removing the surface layers of the verruca, Swift is intended to stimulate an immune response against the virus responsible for the lesion.

Treatment is delivered in a series of very short applications and the appointment itself is usually relatively quick.

Swift can be used in both adults and children, although suitability will depend on the individual patient, the location of the verruca and their ability to tolerate the treatment.

Your podiatrist will assess the area first and discuss whether Swift is the most appropriate treatment option.

One of the main advantages of Swift is that there is usually very little aftercare.

There are generally no dressings to apply and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately afterwards. The treated area may feel tender for a short period following the appointment, but this usually settles quickly.

The number of treatments required varies depending on factors such as the size, number and duration of the verrucae, as well as how your immune system responds.

Persistent verrucae often require a course of treatment rather than a single appointment. Your podiatrist will assess your verruca and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

Persistent verrucae can be uncomfortable, frustrating and difficult to treat.

At Bucks Podiatry, we take the time to assess your verruca properly and discuss the treatment options available to you. If Swift is suitable, we will explain what to expect and guide you through the treatment process from your first appointment through to follow-up.
